Random Sauces From All Around The World

My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (nine-tailed fox)

Do you believe in folktales? What makes you think they are real? Or do you think they are just things people made up?

Though I have just watched this series now, this Korean TV series first aired in August 2010 and ran for 16 episodes.  Assuming this happens to you, what do you think you are going to do? Will you make a mystical beast your girlfriend? Are you willing to spend your life with it?

Before going any further I think it is a good idea to know about the main idea of the story. Here is the synopsis from D-Addicts

On one day after Cha Dae Woong ran away from his grandfather, he accidently freed a nine-tailed fox who was closed in a painting for about 500 years. He didn’t realize what he has done, until the Gumiho (nine-tailed fox),who took the form of a beautiful woman, appeared in front of him. Dae Woong was really frightened that he ran away from her and fell on the riverbank.Since he was severely injured, Gumiho came to save him and gave him her most precious bead to share with him the mystic fox’ strength, as she owes him her freedom. Gumiho then asked him if he can help her become human and how to act like one. In return, she allowed him to use her bead for him to shoot for his dream action movie despite his body’s severe condition. As time goes by, their mutual relationship grew deeper as they start to fall for each other.

I have to admit that Korean has quite a lot of famous romance TV series. Sometimes I wonder why can’t I stop watching them even when the stories are getting out of hand and the problems seem to be unimportant and exaggerated. Well yeah, that is film. After watching half of the series, I think the producers have made a good job of combining logical and illogical things. The acting is good too, which made the main male and female lead won 3 awards. Those are

  • 2010 SBS Drama Awards: Best Actor Award – Drama Special (Lee Seung Gi)
  • 2010 SBS Drama Awards: Best Actress Award – Drama Special (Shin Min Ah)
  • 2010 SBS Drama Awards: Best Couple Award (Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah)

I am now enjoying the love stories and I hope the climax will be nicely done and it ends with happy ending. I also enjoy the background songs that are played throughout the series and I even searched the OST.

My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox Soundtrack Cover

The soundtrack is good and I quite like several songs. And those songs are:

  • 정신이 나갔었나봐 (대웅 Theme) by 이승기
  • 여우비 (Main Theme) by 이선희
  • 둘이 하나 (Love Theme) by 린 (LYN) feat 봉구 Of 길구 봉구
  • 여우비 (Acoustic Ver.) by 이선희

The songs are heart-touching, love them. (Now I am wondering, will I think the same of the songs if I have never watched the movie before? This sure needs to be researched. Or there has already been?)

Got any recommendation for movies or series?
